Accounts Payable Supervisor

This position reports to the Director of Shared Services in ensuring the day-to-day Accounts Payable related functions from vendor setup through payment and vendor resolution are completed in a timely and efficient manner, while complying with all Company policies and internal control requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure invoices are allocated to the proper account by coding and/or verifying. 
  • Monitor and analyze department workload and tasks to assist in identifying and implementing best practices to drive efficiency.   
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all contacts with emphasis on company interests
  • Support and train each function of the Accounts Payable department. 
  • Answer inquiries from vendors, suppliers, and employees, and research discrepancies, if necessary. 
  • Participate in, and lead when assigned, the month end close process. 
  • Prepare distributions, via journal entries, into the General Ledger system, when needed. 
  • Monitor completeness of expenses, to include making accruals for missing invoices, using General Ledger and reporting systems to write and generate reports, export into Excel and analyze data using features such as pivot tables and v-lookups. 
  • Prepare accounts payable related balance sheet account reconciliations 
  • Ensure the established financial controls are adhered to in the performance of specific procedures. 
  • Assist with, and lead when necessary, process improvement projects and productivity enhancements. 
  • Oversee the setup and maintenance of vendors in the system ensuring compliance with 1099 reporting.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor\u0027s degree - Accounting or equivalent or related 5 to 6 years work experience. 
  • 5 - 6 years of accounts payable and/or accounting experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Supervisor role.
