Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible for the tools and business processes used to create total chain merchandise plans that support company financial objectives. Collaborates with merchant AND planning teams to improve the consistency and reliability of forecasts and the related open-to-buy management. Conducts exception analysis and communicate risks / opportunities in order to achieve plans.

Executes all regular, promotional, and clearance pricing activities with a high level of systems acumen. Leverages business intelligence and analytical tools to enable effective pricing decision making. Delivers accurate markdown forecasts with optimal gross profit results. Communicates actions to Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Store Operations teams.
Primary Responsibilities:  

 Develop working relationships and maintain open communications with merchandise planning and store planning teams, along with merchant(s) that are directly supported.

 Develop category/week level plans that support higher family/season level financial plans.

 Identify and quantify sales, markdown or inventory risks and opportunities vs. plan.

 Translate trends or strategy shifts into future forecasts to maintain inventory productivity.

 Create ad hoc reports to support business mix analysis and to guide future purchases.

 Manage OTB weekly and participate in monthly OTB review meetings with executives.

 Partner with merchandising and marketing on pricing and promotional discount strategies.

 Aid the development of company markdown budgets and recurring forecast updates.

 Provide category / item markdown recommendations & decision support analysis.

 Develop pricing models to optimize both GP $ and sell through results for exiting product.

 Execute temporary & permanent price changes in required systems (retail and cost md’s).

 Coordinate in-store pricing execution workload and maintain the time & action calendars.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of retail planning experience, familiarity with markdown management preferred

  • Advanced user of Excel – very analytical and data driven, adept at handling complexity
  • Creative problem solver - track record of designing and delivering efficient business solutions

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment while working with all levels of management
