Senior Accountant - Stores

Assigned accounting responsibilities for stores including, but not limited to, advertising, repairs and maintenance, supplies, and revenue accounting. Contributes to the monthly and quarterly closing processes including preparation of various journal entries, analyses, balance sheet reconciliations, PBCs and support for audit requests. Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Primary Responsibilities:                               

  • Preparation of monthly journal entries, including moderate to complex supporting calculations in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare various monthly and quarterly close reports and analysis in order to validate the accuracy of the financial information, including but not limited to documenting results for submission to management and external auditors.
  • Prepare reconciliations and effectively communicate financial statement fluctuations, both balance sheet and income statement as it relates to prior year, budget and forecast
  • Responsible for maintaining prepaid records for store expenses and software maintenance contracts as well as recording the related entries.
  • Responsible for assigned store level expense accounting, accruals, and analysis
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual Internal and External Audit schedules
  • Prepare training documentation as needed for assigned responsibilities
  • Preparation of ad-hoc analysis and projects based on current needs of department and management assignments.


  • Excellent PC skills (word, excel), including an aptitude for working with large volumes of data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that is deadline driven
  • Detail oriented and able to multi-task
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Reliable, driven, self-starter with a high degree of integrity and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude, can do spirit and great people skills with demonstrated leadership ability
  • Excellent customer service and relationship building skills with internal business partners
  • Experience using Epicor, FRx, and Spreadsheet Server or similar reporting tools is a plus
  • Leader; informal staff mentor to peer group and others

Education and/or Experience:

  • BS or BA in Accounting required
  • 5+ years of experience in multi-location environment; retail/restaurant a plus

Certifications or Licenses:

  • CPA or progression toward certification preferred
