SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The compliance of federal, state and local taxes as well as annual reporting requirements for the Company and its related subsidiaries in every jurisdiction where the Company does business. While the primary role focuses on income tax compliance, federal and state income tax research and provision for income taxes, the incumbent will work in the areas of franchise, property and sales taxes as well. 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.

  • Responsible for the preparation and timely filing of tax returns as required in all jurisdictions including annual reporting.
  • Responsible for the calculations and filings of estimated tax payments and all other tax payments due with required tax filings.
  • Assist in federal, state and local tax audits, including the gathering of information requested by government tax auditors.
  • Responsible for preparation of responses to tax correspondence received from taxing authorities.
  • Review tax assessments and as appropriate, challenge and protest such assessments.
  • Maintain and reconcile financial statement tax accounts on a monthly basis, including proper record keeping and maintenance of tax accounting records.
  • Assist in preparing the Company\u0027s quarterly and annual tax provision.
  • Research of federal and state tax issues and draft corresponding memorandums supporting tax positions.
  • Assist in tax credit calculation and utilizations.
  • Responsible for gathering documentation and reporting unclaimed property
  • Maintain and reconcile tax basis fixed assets within the FAS depreciation system.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of the following software products:
    • Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Preparation
    • FAS Depreciation System
    • Checkpoint Research Tools
    • MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor\u0027s degree in Accounting; MS in Taxation preferred
  • CPA or progress achieving the CPA designation
  • One to three years’ experience, preferably within a corporate income tax environment or a combination of experience within a corporate income tax environment and a top CPA firm
